Serra Club of Markham & Scarborough ("SCMS") held its first annual appreciation night for Priests on 10th of June 2010 at St. Justin Martyr's Parish in Markham. Over 160 people from the Serra Club family attended to honour and affirm a total of 31 priests, mostly from ten parishes of Markham & Scarborough region.

The theme for the evening was a celebration of the year for priests. The mandate of Serra, the vocation arm of the church, is to pray, invite, encourage and affirm vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life.

The evening was also attended by the Ontario District Governor and Vice President, Mario Biscardi and Most Reverend Bishop Vincent Nguyen, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Toronto. The Bishop was the guest speaker who inspired us with his humility with an unbelievable sense of humour. On a serious note, he encouraged us to continue to support the vocations and foster a spirit of discernment not only in our family but in our parish as well.

We, at SCMS, were overjoyed for honouring our Bishop and Priests that night, it was a wonderful moment to give thanks to all who shepherd us daily, and together we say WE LOVE OUR PRIESTS. Members of the following parishes pay tribute to their pastor and associate pastors through their speeches and singing.

There were 31 Certificates and gifts prepared for:

It was indeed a very uplifting and joyful event. Everyone felt so blessed and ready to spread the Good News of the Lord with the spiritual guidance of our beloved priests.
