2011 Altar Server Awards
The Toronto West Serra Club's annual Altar Server Awards program was carefully planned, skillfully organized and successfully executed by event Chairman David Bain, with the assistance of fourteen fellow Serrans and volunteers from the K of C.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, two hundred appreciative young Altar Servers from Parishes in the western Region of the Archdiocese of Toronto, received the Bishop's Medal for Service from the hands of Bishop John Boissonneau in recognition of their faithful service at the Altar. Numerous Pastors came to share the celebration with Servers from their own parish.
Sts. Peter and Paul church was packed with supportive parents and friends who participated in a moving liturgy and enjoyed the beautiful music and outstanding visual facilities provided by Host Pastor, Fr. Soldado Paranas. Following the presentation ceremony, a delicious luncheon, prepared by the talented ladies of the Catholic Women's League, was served to all.
Serra, where faith becomes action. This Serra sponsored event encompassed all of Serra's objectives. Consciousness about the need for more priestly vocations has been raised. Seeds for new vocations have been planted. Priests and Priesthood was celebrated. And an opportunity was provided for 15 Serrans to gain the grace and satisfaction of contributing in a meaningful way to a worthwhile Serra vocations endeavour.
We invite you to consider sharing in Serra's important work. Your ideas and participation would be welcomed.
