On May 2, 2023, the Serra Club of Hamilton welcomed the return of the Annual Celebration of Priesthood and Consecrated Life Dinner.
Now called Vocation Recognition Dinner to better reflect our mission, this was the 20th annual dinner.
Our celebration is a vocation awareness activity where we come together as a grateful Catholic Community to honour and express appreciation to our dedicated Diocesan Priests, Religious Sisters and Brothers, Consecrated Virgins and Permanent Deacons throughout the Diocese of Hamilton as well as the Seminarians and the Candidates for Religious Life, the Consecrated Life and the Permanent Diaconate.
A special emphasis goes out to the Jubilarians who have served the diocese for 50 years; however, those who have served 25, 40, 60 and 60 plus years are also celebrated. This year, we acknowledged one Diocesan Priest, one Religious Priest, and one Religious Sister who have given us 50 years of their lives to God and His people. Also joining us this evening were the four men who will be ordained to the priesthood and one Religious Sister who will profess her final vows.
Although our focus is to honour Jubilarians every year at this dinner, any profits made are applied to a Seminarian Bursary Fund. Since the establishment of the fund, we have been able to grant some financial assistance to seminarians studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Hamilton.
