JOHN LANDY PLUNKETT (Oct 5, 1931 – Jan 7, 2024)
John Landy Plunkett was a Serran with the Serra Club of Toronto West for about 40 years. He is well remembered by all Serrans in Ontario as he was very active in Serra participating in most if not all Serra activities and events both at the Club, District, National and International level. He was one of the most “techy” Serrans we had back then and he was forever helpful in designing, printing and distributing many Serra pamphlets, flyers, posters, booklets, etc. Any Serran that asked for his help received it in great measure. He was one of the Founding Fathers of the Serra Foundation of Canada in 2002 and he designed, printed, distributed and managed the original inventory of Mass Cards for the Serra Foundation for many years. Every user of the Mass Cards received a “Thank you” note from John as well a additional supply of Mass cards for their future use.
John served in various leadership roles in Serra, Club President, District Governor and also the Serra Council for Canada where he was the second President in 2002 until 2004. Prior to that, he represented Canada in the former USA and Canada Council (“USAC”) Board until the Serra Canada Council was formed in the year 2000.

BERNARD JOSEPH SMITH (March 4, 1927 – Oct 3, 2020)
Bernie Smith one of the founding fathers of Serra Foundation of Canada passed away this morning.
Bernie incorporated the Foundation and obtained its charitable registration status. He was a generous member of the Foundation’s Founders Club and served on the Foundation board since its incorporation in 2002 until 2018.
Bernie has been a Serran for years, starting off with being a founding Member of Serra Club of Toronto West over 50 years ago.
